Highly Recommend!
By i blog 4 books
What is it about this medical suspense genre that I love so much? And Candace Calvert in particular! Perhaps it’s because I feel like she combines the drama (medical and personal!) of shows like ER or Grey’s Anatomy with realistic characters, sweet romance, and intriguing mysteries–all against a backdrop of faith. Trauma Plan is no exception.Riley desperately wants to return to her former duties as an ER trauma nurse. However, injuries have sidelined her and she feels “stuck” in her job as ER chaplain. When Dr. Jack Travis gives her an opportunity to prove herself and hone her skills at his free clinic, she reluctantly accepts his offer. Between the community trying to shut the clinic down and the tension between Riley and Jack, sparks are flying everywhere! As they get to know each other, a fragile trust forms–and is jeopardized when Jack’s past comes out.Wow. Candace Calvert delivers again in Trauma Plan. Riley and Jack were fantastic characters, and I loved getting both of their perspectives throughout the book. Candace does a great job of creating flawed characters that are likeable yet real. The secondary characters in this novel were excellent as well and at times stole the show. Bandy, the formerly homeless man who helps at the shelter, and his gimpy dog Hobo were wonderful additions to this cast of characters. While the book wasn’t as suspenseful as I expected, the romance and faith elements were strong and it worked out to be the perfect mix.As always I highly recommend this Candace Calvert novel and look forward to reading more in this series! [5 stars]I received a free copy of this book from Tyndale House in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Action packed and full of good ol fashioned romance.
By Angela
The evidence of a good book is generally in how quickly one feels compelled to read it. The quicker the better – even though it is bitter sweet to reach the end, you still can’t wait to get there. This is the second title and a start of a new series, that I have read of Candace Calvert’s novels. Reinventing the adrenaline and action of ER and other dramatic hospital dramas, Trauma Plan had plenty of gritty action to keep the pulse pounding and just enough mystery to keep avid page turning a must.Hospital ER Chaplain (and registered nurse) Riley Hale is desperately trying to regain her position as a fully able ER nurse after suffering a horrific attack that left her severely injured and jeopodise her ability to do her job. Enter ER doc Jackson Travis – who is single-handedly directing a small clinic to serve the poor and homeless of the area, much to the opposition of the swanky residence who would rather then clinic be anywhere but there back door. The two initially clash but both need the other – Jack, to have the Hale name (Rily’s family have influence) on his clinic and Riley to regain her confidence and have a endorcement that she can return to the job she loves.Along with the two leads, we meet a wonderful group of supporting characters who flesh out the world of this Texan town. From Bandy, the crusty old rodeo man with his little dog with his wheeled cart he pulls behind him, to Kate – Riley’s coworker who no doubt will appear in further titles (I hope). The story, while having a typlical romantic pattern also through up enough mystery and questions – especially around Jack and his secret past that I personally didn’t see the revelation coming. The ending also has a few shocking moments befitting a medical romantic drama.Highly recommended for anyone who loves their medical fiction with a high dose of romance and a fantastic message that shine through the whole thing. I can’t wait for the next title.

A Real Page Turner!
By Kathy Warth
Every life has it’s own light and it’s own darkness and contains secrets hidden deep.Alamo Grace Hospital nestled in the tiny corner within the state of Texas is home to many unique personalities and emergency situations.Jack Travis, trauma doctor at Alamo Grace, gives of himself and his time freely helping others and doing things his way.Trauma chaplain Riley Hale is looking to prove to herself and others at Alamo Grace that she has what it takes to step up to the challenge of triage nurse. When a new opportunity presents itself to her, to help in ways she never knew were possible, her goals took on a new direction.Bandy spreading smiles and sunshine, has a laidback way of looking at the world. He and his dog Hobo, volunteer where they are needed. These characters along with many more add to the charm of the story. Can trust issues be overcome, and can fear be tackled without leaving a scar? This is the first book I have had to opportunity to read by Mrs Calvert, and I can honestly say it won’t be the last. Reminiscent of ER this medical style fictional drama with it’s personable and memorable characters the reader can relate and attach to, is a real page turner and extremely hard to put down. I quickly became lost in this book which is peppered with action, romance, heartbreak and some laugh aloud moments promising many enjoyable reading hours. Dialogue and scenery seemed realistic, plot flowed smoothly and character development was strong. I was entertained and challenged in my faith. I would highly recommend this book to others. I received this complimentary copy from Tyndale Publishers for my review.
