Depressed me
By Cordelia
This book makes the important point that, while we may not be at fault for the rejection we experience, we are responsible for how we respond to it. He enumerates a variety of ways in which our reactions to rejection can be sinful. He then goes on to describe the remedies for healing from rejection, including forgiveness, immersing ourselves in the things of God, etc. However, I was upset at the heavy-handedness with which the author made the repeated point that our reactions to rejection can be sinful. That section was much longer than the one on overcoming rejection, and I was left feeling very down. There was a lack of real compassion in this book. I think the author needed to go a lot further to acknowledge the terrible pain of rejection, to let the reader know that in most cases he is NOT to blame, and to describe in much greater length, and with less of an admonishing tone, the ways in which we can go about healing from this terrible wound. The emphasis on the rejected person’s potentially sinful responses to these terrible hurts was like a slap in the face. Yes, he makes valid points, but it is a mater of presentation and emphasis. I also felt the author dwelt more on certain forms of rejection than others. He also dwelt on the need to remain obedient to authority, including a wife to her husband, which seems not only unrealistic but harmful in cases where a wife has been betrayed, abused, or otherwise deeply hurt by her husband.I really hoped to read a book that would offer healing for rejection, not lay on more bad feelings. That may have been the author’s intent, but if so, this book needs major re-working to make the message of healing and hope come across more clearly than that of the added burden of shame and failed responses to life’s hurts.

NO ONE WANTS TO BE REJECTED
By Tamra K. Abernethy
NO ONE WANTS TO BE REJECTED BUT IN SOME WAY MOST PEOPLE HAVE. ADMIT IT, AT SOME POINT IN TIME YOU’VE FELT WHAT REJECTION FEELS LIKE. DONT LET THE COVER TURN YOU OFF FROM READING THIS BOOK. IF YOU FEEL YOU DONT NEED THE INFORMATION THATS INSIDE OTHERS YOU KNOW WILL. ITS QUICK AND EASY READING BUT INSIDE THIS SMALL BOOK IS PACKED WITH VALUABLE, LIFE CHANGING INFORMATION.
