guardians review
By Jacqueline Waldron
I enjoyed the strong visualizations Dr. Parrillo managed to create throughout the story…his knowledge of Ellis Island and immigrant issues of that time period made the book so realistic, it felt like I was part of that time. His characters were strong, multi-faceted and made for a very interesting read. I have visited Ellis island quite a few times over the past decades as a teacher, so to have this perspective on the history which took place there, gave an even added dimension. I really enjoyed the book very much.

The Rest of the Story
By Amazon Customer
It was so interesting to have the “rest of the story” factually woven into an exciting novel. My father and his family came over from Sicily in the 1890s thru Ellis Island. Never did I hear the negative side of immigration from them. Either they were a few of the lucky ones or they just were content to arrive in America. Needless to say the romance intertwined with the criminal element made this novel a real “page turner” for me. When is the sequel coming out Mr Parrillo?

Informative and enjoyable
By Dagmar from NJ
It was very easy reading with a lot of interesting facts and information unknown to me.It also makes us aware that “immigration” has always been a difficult subject and history repeats itself as we realize we are still nowhere near finding better solutions in handling this problem today. The love story a midst all the harsh and sad times added a nice sweetening touch throughout the book.
